Wind Tree

A French company New Wind has created a wind tree designed for use in low and gusty conditions, and to be visually pleasing and able to fit into an urban environment. There are plans to trial the wind tree in Paris. Expected to cost around US$37,000, but projected to pay for itself within 2 years.

New Solar Efficiency Record

A team at the university of NSW has achieved a solar cell efficiency of 34.5%, a new world record and improvement over previous best of 24% (for un-concentrated sunlight – the same team has achieved 40% efficiency with concentrated photovoltaics).
