I have recently attended the Australian Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition on 3rd and 4th June in Sydney. I only attended one day for the exhibition, and I think I managed to get around and look at every product there, as well as a few of the industry workshops.
The exhibition was primarily focused on energy storage, but there was of course plenty on inverters, solar panels and electric cars, which all tie in together.
It was great to see so many great products, and there is definitely a lot going on in the energy storage space. A lot of people have been talking about Tesla’s new energy storage products recently, which are not necessarily different to some products already on the market, but it has certainly set an expectation that the pricing of energy storage will be coming down perhaps sooner than expected. This is great news for the industry. It looks like lithium ion batteries may emerge as the winner from this, but there is some new battery technology that looks promising. I will look into it further a give a summary later.
